1919 Corinth had acquired a plot in Urfeld am Walchensee, where his wife was built for the family a wooden house. Urfeld was Corinth increasingly becoming a refuge from the efforts of the city of Berlin. Sixty paintings have been preserved, in which he held the lake and its changing moods.
